Implementation and impact analysis of the advanced testing of the project „Prevention of apprenticeship drop-out (PraeLab)“

The project “PraeLab” of the University of Applied Labour Studies of the Federal Employment Agency aims to reduce drop-out from vocational training in Germany. Taking a preventative approach, the project first identifies trainees with a high risk of dropping out with the help of a competence analysis tool. Second, consulting and counselling services are offered to these trainees by the Federal Employment Agency or by other service providers.

The IAW evaluates the advanced testing of PraeLab in four employment agencies. The evaluation deals both with the organizational implementation of the project as well as with the effects on drop-out from training. To this end, both qualitative and quantitative research methods will be used. The results on the effects will be complemented by a cost-benefit analysis. The empirical results are transferred into policy recommendations.
