Trends in income distribution in Germany against the background of the COVID 19 pandemic

The six Poverty and Wealth Reports presented so far by the Federal Government have contributed fundamentally to the understanding of the distribution of financial resources in the Federal Republic of Germany.

For the preparatory work for the seventh Poverty and Wealth Report, it is important to build on the existing foundations and to further develop and improve the reporting methods. Important requirements are firstly the connectivity to previous studies in the context of poverty and wealth reporting and secondly the consistency with other preparatory studies. This requires a high degree of standardisation in the preparation of the data.

One focus of the upcoming report will be on the impact of the CoViD19 pandemic on the German income distribution.
