Trends in income distribution in Germany against the background of the COVID 19 pandemic

The six Poverty and Wealth Reports presented so far by the Federal Government have contributed fundamentally to the understanding of the distribution of financial resources in the Federal Republic of Germany.

The preparatory work for what is now the seventh report on poverty and wealth involved building on existing foundations and further developing and improving reporting methods. Important requirements were firstly the connectivity to previous studies in the context of poverty and wealth reporting and secondly the consistency with other preparatory studies. This requires a high degree of standardisation in the preparation of the data.

One focus of the upcoming report is on the impact of the CoViD19 pandemic on the German income distribution.
