Young Talent Potential in the School-to-Work Transition Area.
The mechanical and plant engineering sector is severely affected by the shortage of skilled workers. Therefore, companies and institutions are looking for ways to find suitable and qualified young talent. The aim of this study is to determine the significance of the so-called school-to-work transition area (e.g., pre-vocational programs) for the mechanical and plant engineering sector. In addition to literature and data analyses, the study uses data from the German National Educational Panel (NEPS) to investigate how young people in the transition area differ from apprentices. From this, conclusions are drawn regarding the suitability of these individuals for vocational training in mechanical and plant engineering.
