Master's degree programmes in the field of nursing: degree profiles and career entry (MAPA)

The project analyses study programmes at Master's level and career paths of nurses with a Master's degree. It aims to make educational programmes transparent and systematically record the areas of employment and job profiles of these individuals.

In order to enable a comprehensive investigation of the research subject, the study combines various methods, utilises diverse data sources and takes into account the perspectives of different stakeholders (including graduates, managers in education and practice, employers).

In the first part of the study, findings on Master's degree courses in the field of nursing, on (international) systems and competence profiles are compiled within the framework of a systematic literature study; on the other hand, the curricula of the nursing-related Master's degree courses offered in Germany are recorded and analysed in order to provide an overview of the current situation and to contextualise it.

The second part consists of an empirical career entry study. Within the framework of standardised surveys of Master's graduates and employers and on the basis of supplementary secondary data, the areas of employment and activities of nurses with a Master's degree in Germany are being researched.

In the third part, the results are analysed in greater depth in focus groups and interviews with experts.

The summarised findings serve as a basis for well-founded evaluations, interpretations and various transfer measures.
