Wilhelm Kohler headed the IAW from 1 September 2013 to 31 August 2023 as Scientific Director together with Prof. Dr. Bernhard Boockmann. Wilhelm Kohler was from September 2004 until March 2022 Head of the Chair of International Economics at Eberhard-Karls-University in Tübingen. Prior to this, he was a professor at Johannes Kepler University in Linz and at the University of Essen. His main field of research is foreign trade theory. One of his most important research themes concerns the welfare effects of trade liberalization, e.g. in the case of European integration. His further research topics centre on the consequences of globalization, in particular on the outsourcing of economic activities, and on the economic effects of migration. Professor Kohler has been affiliated with IAW for many years.
