Master of Science, joined the IAW as a research associate in January 2018. He studied Business and Economics (B.Sc.) at the University of Hohenheim and Economics at the Eberhard Karls University Tübingen. He specialized on quantitative methods, especially policy evaluation methods, and their application to relevant questions in education and labor economics. In his Master Thesis, he looked at the estimation of heterogeneous treatment effects using Machine Learning Methods.
At the IAW, his current focus is on education and labor economics, especially in the context of migration.
Philipp Kugler received his PhD from Eberhard Karls University Tübingen in July 2023. His PhD topic is "Using Machine Learning Methods in Economics" and was supervised by Prof. Dr. Martin Biewen and Prof. Dr. Bernhard Boockmann.
